What a great place to work with! Went to watch them cut several logs today and was so impressed with how they turned out. Also very happy with the knowledge and attention to detail. I will end up with live edge, quarter sawn and plane sawn oak to build furniture. The quality of the wood and cuts are perfect for what we want to do. I will be looking for more downed trees after the next hurricane as they make processing it from picking it up, cutting it, storing it and kiln drying easy.

We took a drive out to Ellabell and met with the owner of Ole Jacks Sawmill and had a great visit and learned how he got into the sawmill business. He showed us the wood he had available, and we placed our order for eight shelves and paid our deposit. He said they would have them ready the following Saturday and even put the date on the receipt when the order would be ready. Saturday came, we called to see if we could come out and pick up our order and were told he didn't have them ready, but he would by the following weekend. Another week went by, and we received a text message that he wouldn't have the order ready because it was the last weekend for hunting, and he would be in the woods. We tried a number of times to get him to tell us when they would be ready, and he just kept putting us off. After three weeks my husband received a text, and it was our deposit being returned via Apple pay. We were so confused as to why this was happening because we hadn't heard from Chris. My husband tried calling and would always get this voicemail and finally we got ahold of his wife. After a long conversation, we got our deposit refunded but still don't know why they couldn't fulfill the order after asking them several times. Overall, poor experience and I wouldn't recommend Ole Jacks Sawmill.
