Ian has been photographing our two boys for 28 years. Through Ian, we have been able to document the childhood and now adulthood journey of our boys. Ian is not just an amazing photographer but an amazing coach for the person being photographed. My daughter is very uncomfortable in front of the camera and because of that has a hard time smiling naturally or posing comfortably. We hired Ian to do her senior photos…. and watching him transform her into a self-assured model was like witnessing alchemy. She describes it as almost being like a therapy session. She said she’s never liked pictures of herself before that day and that beyond the photographs themselves, she just has more confidence in her life. Period. He is a clear communicator, easy to work with, and the end product is as top-notch as it gets!

The Folio Club, a prestigious literary club, decided to celebrate its twenty-fifth year anniversary with a Club photograph. We looked for a professional photographer who was celebrated for his work in portraiture, and Ian McFarlane was highly recommended to us. We invited him to have lunch with us during which he described his approach to group photos, and we were convinced he was the photographer we were looking for. The shoot was scheduled for the Athens Country Club, and he and I met with the staff of the Country Club to determine a location for the Club shoot. The Folio Club Anniversary photo turned out to be excellent beyond our expectations, highly original and to some extent very artistic. I cannot recommend Ian McFarland more highly as a photographer par excellence. He gave us an Anniversary photo of the highest quality at a very reasonable price.
