I normally read reviews but didn't prior to enrolling my child at AMDS. I can not say that the experience my daughter had was horrible, but I can say that the professionalism is not good and It's very petty. My daughter joined in August and i had to remove my daughter from the class October 1st due to a personal concern dealing with my dad, which lead to financial struggles. This was explained. I was told that i would have to pay a removal fee, and that all items that I have not received will be mailed to me, which I did just that. However, when I asked questions about the warm up that was about $105 that I paid for 2 months ago and never received and a T shirt that was paid for that was never received, I was told by Alicia that these items will not be refunded but mailed. But then I receive a message a little while later, in the same day from the team Mom stating that because my daughter didn't pay for a uniform for a event that she didnt get nor did she participate in, that I would also have to pay that before receiving the other items. My daughter was removed from that class before that event nor was a uniform ordered for her. So how does she owe anything? Please make it make sense. So because of the games being played, I then asked for a receipt showing that these items were ever even ordered and the date they were ordered but she refused to provide that, stating that I was questioning integrity. That's funny. It's only $132 but it's the unprofessionalism and pettiness. I have a family friend checking into what rights I have in this matter.

Alicia Menzie Dance Company is the only Black Owned Dance Company that teaches ballet. My 3 daughters have been dancing there for more than 6 years and there's no other place i'd rather them be members of. Alicia helps to instill respect for self and respect for others. The kids that dance for her absolutely love her. And to have been awarded Best Dance Studio for 2023 shows that she knows what she is doing.

This dance company instructor is unprofessional and has no respect for the parents (unless they are her friends) my 8 year old daughter joined this company dance team back in August this year 2023. Things started well then I started to notice that Alicia the owner would send out private Band app messages explaining daily updates including “ please stay in your vehicles” someone will bring your dancer out after practice, I would pull up waiting as she instructed only to see her friends in the building and walking out with their kids. We all spending our money, all rules should apply to everyone! Strike 2 Alicia the (owner) set up an outside source to come in and take professional photographs of the dancers. I got busy and missed the Saturday date. (My fault) there was a $100 deposit required at the time of the booking, the agreement was to reschedule within 2 weeks or loose the deposit….Cool we rescheduled and the date fell on my birthday 10/19 I had an event planned for 7:00 pm the shoot was on the same proximity so we would all mesh well and get the shoot done. My daughter and I pulled up at the address and waited maybe 10 minutes and there was nobody available!! I made a call to Alicia the (owner) because this was her contact and asked if she could check the ETA. She told me via text a couple of minutes later that the photographer had experienced an emergency and for me to just wait for his arrival!!! I then asked Alicia for an ETA because I had other plans and didn’t want to just sit unknowingly!!!! She said “an emergency is just that while sending a picture of some guy with a hospital wristband on I have no clue” my daughter and I left and when I asked for my refund of $100 she included the photographer on a group message going back and fourth via text message not a phone call debating about me being in the wrong place!!! Horrible business practices!!! Strike 3 was last-night and the final strike !!! The recital was held on yesterday there was a long list of items presented to have checked off on which my daughter had everything. Prior to the performance each dancer was given a different private assignment. My daughter didn’t receive one and I was perfectly fine with that. She asked me why and I told her that not everyone received a private or group assignment. I explained that she was new to the team and just maybe she was still developing. Fast forward we get to the recital and Alicia has assigned seating. In the past she has said the seating arrangements are based on your seat purchase, I made the purchase a full day before the tickets went on sale. This jealous lady seated me on the 5th row in the corner!!! When I asked her about the location her reply was that the other parents made the purchase at midnight the prior day!!! Lies because she stayed texting threatening that if the accounts wasn’t current that she would not let their dancers participate!!! SMH I always paid in advance as I had an account set aside for my daughter dance activities in advance!!!! Last but not least as the recital is going on and all the chosen dancers were coming out to perform it seem to be the entire team at some point in the show!!! So I walked to the dressing room where Alicia mom was standing guard at the door and I opened the door!! To find my 7 year old daughter assisting another young dancer in getting her dance attire on!!!! I lost it!!!! I don’t pay for that and I darn sure didn’t approve it!!!!! This place is the biggest hoax in Columbus!!! Never again!!! We are looking at studios in Houston and I’m fully aware of how to choose this time!!! I was mortified !!!!! My baby didn’t even finish the show I took her and left!!! I wouldn’t recommend this place ever!!!! Nice nasty hating woman!!! My daughter didn’t do any fund raisers no shade to the ones that did!!! I can take my coins elsewhere! Attached is a text message from this unprofessional owner !!! She’s a joke!!! Asking if I’ll put some flyers out at my business for advertising for her!! Absolutely Not!

My niece has been dancing with Alicia Dance Company for years, and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing the magical and most amazing moves she puts the kids through!!!!! They’re so amazing and show so much talent from what they learned from Alicia!!! I was so in awe from their Christmas show, it was one of my favorite nights ever! I’m so proud of all the children and teens and the dance moves they practiced so hard on, and worked so hard with. This dance company is legit and the place to go for great performances and competitions!!!!

This is the third dance company I’ve gone to for my girls and its by far the best! We have been with this company for almost a year now and absolutely love how Mrs. Alicia teaches. She not only teaches her girls how to dance, but also how to be responsible, respectful, and teaches us all that this is truly a sport. My daughter especially loves that she gets to preform so often and now gets to compete with her team. Thank you so much for all the hard work you do with our daughter. We truly appreciate you!

If I had read the reviews before I signed up I would’ve never paid a registration fee. I respectfully inboxed her more than once weeks ago to refund my fee because we will no longer be able to attend the summer camp. She ignored my messages, never responded. So I requested my refund on cash app & she declined it. If you can decline on cash app you can respond to my messages. Glad I won’t be dealing with anymore unprofessionalism from her or this business. Now I’m blocked. Typical.

The only reason you sent you an email today & finally responded to my message is because I left a review on google. Other than that I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM YOU. Leave me on read as you have previously done.

My husband and I have dealt with Alicia Menzies and AMDC several seasons, and her and her team have been nothing shy of professional! They are friendly, approachable,
and her students becoming better dancers and people is the main goal. The time, dedication and love she gives her students is evident. I would recommend this dance company for any child wanting to dance. Matter of fact, I can't wait to have my own so that I can send him or her here.
