Elena took a very intractable brain (mine) and taught it how to draw. She is one of the most patient art teachers I have ever encountered, and for that reason I can now draw and I am learning to paint with her as well. She tailors the learning experience to each student, which for me, is essential. She knows the tools and she knows how to teach them- often rare in the art world. She is a beautiful artist and an inspiration, and a splendid soul. I recommend Arte Diem for all levels of learning art - and art history.

Elena is an accomplished artist and an incredible teacher. She challenges and encourages me, and is never shaming or negative. Her instruction leaves me feeling like I want to become the best artist I can be! She sees things I can’t see, and then helps me see them. Her artistic talent and her ability to communicate empathically and clearly make her an exceptional instructor. The fact that this classically trained artist is here in the middle of Colorado amazes me! I can wake up in the morning with Mountains and then go learn art from one of the best trained instructors in the world. I would have to be crazy to pass up learning with Elena!

My favorite thing about Elena (owner of Arte Diem) is her deeply held belief that art is a skill you can learn, just like playing an instrument. This was so encouraging to me, a mom in my late 30s who has never considered myself an artist or even an “art person.” I took a class with her at another studio and was hooked. Now, I’m a student of her drawing program, and I can’t believe how much I’ve learned in such a short time.
